ENTERPRISE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES (EMA) Radar developed the EMA Radar for Software Asset Management (SAM) to assist buyers in evaluating solutions to assist with the management of software assets -- a large percentage of most corporate IT budgets. More than a dozen vendors were evaluated -- each having its own value proposition. Solutions run the gambit to meet a variety of corporate needs depending on size and scope. This study measured solutions in the areas of discovery and inventory management, financial analysis of software usage, the ability to understand entitlements and functionality that can support software audits according to EMA's corporate model utilized for EMA Radar Reports. 

There are twelve vendors participating in the study identifying those vendors that are value leaders in cost and product feature set. SAM solution providers covered in the EMA Radar are: Alloy Software, ASG, Express Metrix, Eracent, Flexera Software, FrontRange, Hewlett-Packard, IBM Tivoli, iET Solutions, LANDesk, ManageEngine and Symantec.
